Radar Pace is “smart eyewear” that you’ll wear while running

Oakley is renowned worldwide for quality and innovation in their sunglasses. Sometimes, when the runner wanted to talk to the Radar Pace sunglasses, he touched the earphones and said, OK, Radar.” Perhaps not coincidentally, the system can also be used to communicate with other digital assistants, including Apple’s Siri and Google Assistant.

Google only recently announced versions of its Glass headset attached to conventional specs and sunglasses (shown above), but a new partnership with Luxottica – the company behind brands including cheap oakley sunglasses and Ray-Ban – will give it a significant boost.

The Nike Max Transitions Speed Tint lenses – equipped with one of the brand’s latest frames, the Tailwind 12 – are designed just for runners, who often face both direct sunlight and harsh glare reflected off asphalt and also tend to focus their eyes on a single spot for extended stretches.

CEO Colin Baden told Bloomberg that the company has been toying with ways to project information onto sunglasses since 1997, hoping to start by augmenting the world of sports before ultimately blending into more consumery pursuits with shades that could run solo or pair up with a smartphone.

One piece of good news is that if you wear their sunglasses and need to wear RX glasses later you can take your sunglasses to your Oakley prescription dealer and have then send your frames to Oakley to have them put your prescription lenses into Oakley can grind the Rx lenses for their sunglasses line.
